About Me

“My life is shaped by the urgent need to wander and observe, and my camera is my passport.”

— Steve McCurry

Bio

Laura D. Chew is an amateur travel and landscape photographer based in Los Angeles, with stops in Singapore, Sheffield, London, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and San Francisco. She loves photography, but her true passion is Law.

Whenever her schedule allows, she trades in cubicles for countrysides and suits for suites. She usually can be found with a camera, tripod and remote shutter release in hand, and her loyal corgi by her side.

This site presents a curated sample of travel photos from her portfolio.

Philosophy

Having been raised in a concrete jungle, I now seek nature at every opportunity. I have chased the dynamic interplay between light, shadow and vibrant colour across 5 continents and counting.

Photography to me represents a marriage between art and science, insertion and isolation, spontaneity and purpose, absolute patience and utmost urgency. By rendering beauty into the most technical and mechanical of terms, we are allowed a means to extract our unique worldview; and so each photograph we take becomes a self portrait.

Stacked against time, these pictures form a wordless autobiography of our trajectory through life. All I can hope for is that my story is a meaningful one.
